To kick off the Christmas holidays, youngsters have two opportunities to enjoy hot breakfast with good-old Saint Nick on Dec. 2.

The Houma Kiwanis Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast at Vandebilt Catholic High School. The fluffy pancakes and fixin’s will be served in the Vandebilt cafeteria from 7 to 11:30 a.m.

“This is the 17th annual breakfast held at Vandebilt. The Kiwanis Club has more than a half dozen projects where we raised money for organization like high school Key Clubs,” said event Chairperson Pepé LeBoeuf. “It is our primary fund-raiser.”

The all-you-can-eat breakfast’s host is the Vandebilt Key Club members who are serving hot pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and milk. For a nominal fee, children can take pictures with Santa or have their face painted.

“The event has become real popular in the community for the young and older generation. We serve an average 700 to 800 meals every year at the breakfast,” LeBoeuf said.

Advance tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any Kiwanis member; tickets are $6 on the day of the breakfast. For more information, contact Larry Frederick (985) 594-3465.

Also that Saturday, the Houma Airbase Arena will host “A Cowboy Christmas Pancake Breakfast with Santa” from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cowboy Santa will ride his tractor in and take pictures with the kids.

There will also be games for children and the admission is free. However, the breakfast is $3 for children and $5 for adults. All proceeds will go toward improving the hurricane-damaged arena. For more information, visit www.terrebonne-livestock.org.
