Fishing. Rides. Cajun food. Music by Ruff-n-Ready and Blue Eyed Soul among others. Sounds like a good time? Then check out Bayou Dularge Knights of Columbus Council 8779’s 23rd annual Fishing Rodeo.

If that isn’t enough fun, then visit the 15th annual County Fair at the St. Eloi KC home.

The events take place Oct. 17-19 with live auctions Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The fair itself includes live music, food and two auctions, while the rodeo provides a great day of fishing, said Arnez Liner, rodeo chairman.

“Nothing’s changed with the storms,” he said. “Both the fair and rodeo are going on as scheduled. We didn’t want to cancel because this gives everyone a chance to come out, relax and just have a good time.”

The fishing rodeo is divided into four categories: freshwater, saltwater, offshore and children’s divisions.

“It’s the same categories as last year,” Liner said. “We have redfish, drum, speckled trout, bass and then we have sac-a-lait, perch and freshwater catfish. The only thing we changed was the size of the bass to 27 inches and under because we had people that were coming in with two bull reds, which was against the rules.”

Prizes will be awarded in each category.

Fair-goers can enjoy live music all day. On Friday, Ruff-n-Ready performs from 7-11 p.m. On Saturday, Gary-T takes the stage followed by local favorites Blue Eyed Soul from 7:30-11:30 p.m. Down Home, another popular cover band, closes out the festivities Sunday night, entertaining the crowd from 5-9 p.m.
