Nicholls State University’s Chamber Singers are headed south of the equator to celebrate the holidays.

On Nov. 30, the group will host “Christmas in the Islands,” its 21st annual Christmas dinner, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Student Union on the NSU campus.

Complete with a four-course meal and musical “stops” to a number of islands, the night is a local holiday tradition.

Tropical resort-casual attire is the dress for the evening.

The program begins at 7 p.m. with a tour of the Caribbean – including songs like “Day-O,” “Island in the Sun,” “Kingston Market” and “Jamaica Farewell.” In keeping with the season, the Chamber Singers will also perform “The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy,” “Calypso Noel” and “Mary’s Little Boy Child.” NSU music major and Jamaica native Chloe-Ann Shaw will make a special guest appearance.

As the singers tour the globe, expect to hear selections from the Solomon Islands, the Phillippines, Sicily, the Bahamas and back up to Ireland, England, Hawaii and even the Low Country of South Carolina and Georgia.

Tickets for the event are $35 for adults or $20 for children age 12 or younger, and must be purchased by noon Nov. 27. For more information, call (985) 448-4600.
