The Fear No Evil Bull Riding Challenge returns to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center Saturday, Feb. 27, for the ninth consecutive year.

Forty cowboys from across the U.S. will face 50 of the circuit’s baddest bulls for life’s longest eight seconds in the quest for cash and bragging rights.

Last year, Baton Rouge’s Cody Morgan was the big winner. With signup still days off as of press time, this year’s riders were unknown. What is certain is appearances by Rick Young, the legendary barrel man and rodeo clown better known as “The Agin’ Cajun” from Tickfaw, La.

Promoters Randy and George Blanchard are predicting another sell-out year, and are encouraging locals to purchase tickets early. Tickets range from $15 to $24. Children ages 2 to 12 get a $3 discount on the price. Tickets are available at the civic center box office or via Ticketmaster.

Highlights of this year’s event include a pre-show party for youngsters. Pinocchio’s Pizza Playhouse is providing goodie bags to the first 100 kids to arrive beginning at 6 p.m. The older generation will enjoy “Uncle Slam,” the bucking bull machine. And the post-show includes a concert and dance with Good Feelin’s Band performing.

The entire crowd will enjoy “Tough Enough to Wear Pink?” Each person wearing pink will earn money for the Bayou Regional American Cancer Society, according to event spokeswoman Tammy Usie.

Beginning Saturday morning, the Terrebonne Parish 4H Livestock Show kicks off. The free event features pigs, sheep, goats and cattle, which will be auctioned from noon to 2 p.m.
