Call the babysitter and head on down to the Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium, 310 N. Canal Blvd. in Thibodaux, for a fun night out.

On Saturday, Aug. 21, the South Thibodaux Fire Company Banquet is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $20 per person and include a dinner of salad, baked chicken, dressing and a vegetable. The event is BYOL and set-up is provided.

Dinner is served at 7 p.m., while Aaron Foret and his band take the stage with their swamp pop sounds from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

An estimated 700 guests are expected to attend this year’s event. Door prizes and a silent auction are some of the features of the fundraiser and attendees must be at least 18 years of age.

All funds raised go toward necessary items for the fire company, according to John Hernandez, president of South Thibodaux Fire Company. “This is the only fundraiser that our company puts on. We use the money for our operating expenses,” he explained.

The function, which has been held for well over 20 years, is a whole lot of fun for all who attend, according to Hernandez.

“It’s just a good time,” said the company’s president. “The music is great and there is something there for everyone.”
