Considered the largest of its kind in the United States, the Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair & Parade has over 50,000 people attend each year.

The Thibodaux Firemen’s Fairgrounds (1101 Tiger Drive) is the site for this year’s event, which is set for Sunday, April 29, to Sunday, May 2.

Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, the fair includes carnival rides, games, a live auction, plenty of traditional and Cajun fare and plenty of live music.

The high-energy Bucktown Allstars and Rockin’ Dopsie & the Zydeco Twisters jumpstart the fun on Thursday. Also slated to perform over the weekend are Na Na Sha, Waylon Thibodeaux, Tab Benoit, Louisiana’s LeRoux, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Hunter Hayes, Don Rich and Wet Willie featuring Jimmy Hall.

The popular firemen’s parade, which dates back to the 1800s, rolls early Sunday, April 29. Fire trucks, floats, vehicles and merry marchers travel west from Menard Street to the fairground in this area favorite.
