LET FREEDOM RING FESTIVAL –

The annual Independence Day celebration presents live music, presentation of the colors by military veterans, a white dove release and a 21 gun salute during the opening ceremony from 2-2:30 p.m. The band Way Down South performs from noon to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m., followed by La. Roadhouse Band, an auction from 5-7 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. A water slide, train ride and bounce house are available to children. Concessions are sold.

The 19th annual celebration honors “Lily of the Mohawks,” the first Native American in the U.S. to be canonized as a saint. COLOR THE ISLAND 5K RUN –

Runners race down the beach while spectators douse them with color as they pass race milestones. Registration, which costs $40, includes a T-shirt and one pack of color, which the racers throw in the air when the race begins. Proceeds benefit Operation Christmas Angel, and the Miss Grand Isle pageant/scholarship.

Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity presents the final year of the all-male talent show under the theme “The Last Call” Super Heroes.
