Local equestrians will be kicking up their heels at the Terrebonne Livestock Association Horse Show Sunday, June 6, at the Air Base Arena at 221 Moffet Road in Houma.


Competitors begin the day at 9 a.m. with judging in lead line, walk trot, western pleasure, western horsemanship, western riding and western reining. The speed events come next with barrel racing, Texas barrels, arena races, poles and the heart race.


Admission is free and concessions are sold.

The arena heats up again Saturday, June 19, for the Terrebonne Livestock Association Rodeo.


“The rodeo pre-show, which includes sheep riding and a performance by the Cajun Cowbabes, begins at 6:30 p.m.,” said Veronica Songe.

The rodeo gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Events include sheep, calf and steer riding, junior and senior bulls, barrel racing, pole bending, and break away, calf and team roping.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for youth and children 2 and under get in free.

“There will be two performances by the Cajun Cowgirls. That’s a team of horseback riders performing synchronized maneuvers on horseback,” Songe said.

Concessions and novelty items such as cowboy hats and blinking novelties are available for purchase. The Terrebonne Livestock Queens will reign over the pony rides and other activities.
