How high can bikes fly?

Find out when the X-games come to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center for the Monster Freestyle Fallout this month.

It won’t be just dirt bikes rolling into town. TBO Entertainment President Tom Bougus said this year’s show also features BMX bikes and the world famous Bomb Squad ATV Jumpers.

“It’s one of those X Games-type freestyle shows that you see on TV, but it’s another thing when you see them in person,” he explained. “It’s just amazing what these guys can do 35 or 40 feet in the air.”

The civic center’s intimate size is ideal for extreme sports fans who want to get up close and personal to the riders, Bougus said.

“There’s not a bad seat in the house. Everybody is pretty much right on top of the action,” he noted. “The seating is arranged to the point where you can just about touch these guys, so that adds a little bit more to the excitement.”

And fans will enjoy taking Monster Truck rides before the show and during intermissions.

“The crowd’s going to see a lot of difficult tricks,” Dialed Action Sports Team Owner Brian Cunningham promises. “We’ll put someone on top of a chair and do a back flip over them.”

Cunningham along with two other Dialed Action Sports bikers will also participate in a high jumping competition.

“We start at 8 feet off the ground then work our way up to about 17 feet and get higher and higher,” said Cunningham.

But the ramp jumping won’t stop there. After performing shows in over 20 countries, Tim Dyson will lead his freestyle motocross team into the civic center.

“We’re going to be doing the same tricks you see at the X-games,” said Dyson. “We’ll be doing cliffhangers, rock solids, Cordovas, heart attacks, and stopping combos where you pump your foot on the front break and you’re riding on the front wheel on the concrete.”

Dyson said his team will compete in trick competitions, and the crowd will vote on who will be crowned Freestyle Fallout champion.

“We’re going to have a jump-off to see who can do the best whip, where you bring the bike sideways and bring it back,” said Dyson. “Then in the second half of the show, we’re going to do it even bigger. We’re going to do a competition on the big tricks.”

With life and limb on the line, Bougus said these extreme riders are sure to put on a great show.

Monster Freestyle Fallout is March 19-20, at 8 p.m. at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd., Houma
