Thursday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. – Krewe of Once Upon A Time: The Lockport Public Library will hold its children’s parade during Storytime. Children are encouraged to wear costumes, and parents can decorate children’s wagons as floats to participate in the parade. The library is also accepting donations of Mardi Gras beads to be used during the children’s parade.

Friday, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. – “Go Red For Women”: With Ruby LeBlanc, Diabetes Educator & Heather Compeaux, Registered Dietician. Lady of the Sea General Hospital’s Learning Center will be providing information and a cooking demonstration on women’s heart health. There will be a power point presentation and cooking demonstration for the women of the community. During February, the American Heart Association promotes the health of women’s hearts. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of American women and is the cause of death of one in every three females. Women can show their support by wearing red on Feb. 12. Ms. LeBlanc and Ms. Compeaux will be demonstrating how to prepare Cajun food, the healthy way! Recipes and samples will be available.
