Lafourche Libraries Celebrate Teen Read Week
There days, there are loads of options to keep teenagers amused, majority of which are the hi-tech variety. From the latest video games to the latest Web craze, teens are increasingly finding entertainment through virtual means.
The Teen Read Week, which is scheduled for Oct. 12-18, is intended to remind teens that books are not only a homework assignment, they are an entrance into new worlds and experiences.
To celebrate Teen Read Week, the Lafourche Parish Library System calls this year’s theme “Books with Bite,” which is intended promote books on a myriad of topics from cooking to vampires.
The local libraries also have teen-specific activities. Teens are encouraged to check out a few books at their local library and peruse the listing of teen programs in person or online at www.lafourche.org.
