Ryan Hutchinson had read about a White Christmas, but always expressed a wistful desire to experience it firsthand.

The owner of Jumping Kids Inflatable Entertainment Center will get to experience every December weekend when he hosts “Snowfall in Houma” each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Machines within his facility will pump out the wet, powdery flakes to create a realistic snowfall that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

“I grew up in Houma and rarely experienced snow, so I thought it would be a great thing to have,” Hutchinson said. “I thought this would be a great thing to have.”

Hutchinson purchased the machines from Snow Masters, a company based in Georgia. The substance is a mixture of polymer and water. “When you stand in it, it looks and feels like snow,” he said.

Admission to Jumping Kids playtime area costs $5.50 for children ages 5 and under, and $7.50 for children ages 6 to 12.

Hot chocolate, cappuccino and nachos will also be served to warm up after the snowfall.

Jumping Kids is located at 836 Grand Caillou Road in Houma. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, and snow will fall at the top of every hour.
