“HAMLET, PRINCE OF PUDDLES” –


March 1-3

L’Enfant Terrible presents this family-friendly adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play. After his kingly father’s untimately death, Hamlet’s mother Gertrude hastily marries his uncle Claudius. But when Hamlet learns who is to blame for his dad’s death, he struggles to take action and becomes known as the Prince of Puddles.

“FLANAGAN’S WAKE” –

March 2-18


Join the villagers of the fictional village of Grapplin, County Sligo, Ireland, for an interactive Irish wake. There are tall tales, songs and, of course, mourning for the dearly departed, Flanagan.

“STEEL MAGNOLIAS” –

Take a trip to Truvy’s beauty parlor in this comedy/drama about the bond between a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. Director Perry Martin swears the female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel.

“A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM” –

“Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight,” this fast-paced, witty farce promises. The time-tested musical features a crafty slave struggling to the win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master in exchange for freedom.

“THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE” –

March 10-17


Six quirky youngsters face off in the battle of their lives as they seek to win first place in the spelling bee. Mix an overachiever who speaks six languages, a young man with unfortunate allergies, the slightly befuddled offspring of hippie parents, a shy newcomer, the politically-aware daughter of same-sex parents and a Boy Scout, who was last year’s winner, and that spells fun.

“ROMEO & JULIET” –

Set in Louisiana during a bitter Senate election between the Montagues and Capulets, two star-crossed lovers create a common bond in uniting the “families,” but can the bitter enemies finally make amends in the aftermath of this adapted tragedy.

“NO HITCHIN’ presents WHAT A RIDE!”

St. Mary Parish’s town of Franklin is the focus of this night of storytelling. From a series of interviews, writer Marc Pettaway created a script and penned a song – “Dot on the Map” – that accompanies the stories of dramatic heartbreak and the tenacity of the delightfully sassy people of Techeland.

“THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA” –

The romance of Italy is in the air as Margaret Johnson, the wife of an American businessman, tours the Tuscan countryside with her daughter. Fate takes a hand with a gust of wind, Margaret’s daughter Clara to her new love, Fabrizio Naccarelli, much to mom’s chagrin. As the story unfolds, a secret is revealed.

“A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE” –

“BAT BOY THE MUSICAL”

A half boy/half bat discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, W. Va., is the center of this musical comedy/horror. When the townsfolk shun the creature, he and the daughter of his veterinarian host run off to the woods to blissfully live. But when the vet’s wife reveals a secret, everyone learns Bat Boy’s shocking story.

“THE COLOR PURPLE”

Based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the story follows Celie as she finds her voice in the world.

“Nunsense is Habit Forming” beings at 7 p.m. each night March 22-24 at the First United Methodist Church sanctuary. Tickets cost $20 and are on sale now at the church office. There’s a musical beach party going on at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre through March 11. The all-star cast — Meredith Long, Amy Alvarez, Danielle Mathis and Wendy Miklovic — bring back the hits of the ’60s and ’70s including “Heat Wave,” “Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “It’s In His Kiss.”
