Do you have a future float decorator in your midst? If so, grab the kids and head to E.D. White Historic Site Saturday, Jan. 12. In celebration of Mardi Gras, the site is hosting a Float Craft Project for youngsters ages 7 to 12.

From 10-11 a.m., youngsters will be able to make their own Mardi Gras float to take home and enjoy.

The Historic Site will also teach about float-maker Blain Kern’s magical tradition. And there will be plenty of King Cake to enjoy.

Using paper cups, ribbons, tissue paper, beads, foil, action figures or dolls, doubloons and glitter, the child-made floats will come to live. There will be an array of materials available or, if your child truly wants to test the limits of his or her imagination, bring your own accessories.

For more information about the event, contact the Historic Site at (985) 447-0915.
