Perhaps trying to top the Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair rollout of Eddie Money, the Community Concert Association of Morgan City opens its new season with the rock and country classic band Exile, most known for their 1978 hit “Kiss You All Over.”

The association, in its 66th year, has announced its 2013-14 Morgan City Concert Series lineup, a six-act collection balanced between nostalgia-inducing classics and up-tempo modernists in their prime.

Exile, celebrating 50 years since their founding as a rock band in Kentucky, opens the season Sept. 17. The lineup has changed drastically over time, with dozens of musicians cycling in and out of the band. Only guitarist and lead vocalist J.P. Pennington remains after 50 years, as the other four members comprising the current iteration joined in 1979, just before the band’s move into the country genre.

Aside from the aforementioned hit, most of Exile’s popular success has been with country music, including four consecutive No. 1 singles on the country chart: “Woke Up in Love,” “I Don’t Want To Be a Memory,” “Give Me One More Chance” and “Crazy for Your Love.” Six more No. 1 country singles followed. The band disbanded in the ‘90s before reforming the country group in 2008.

Following that act is the Mediterranean guitarist Pavlo on Oct. 23. Backed by a percussionist/pianist, bass guitarist and secondary guitarist, Pavlo delivers worldly music at about 150 concerts each year. He’s produced nine albums, sold half a million records worldwide and describes his music as a “Mediterranean sound mixing the folkloric styles of Greek and Latin music with pop sensibilities.”

Jane L. Powell, an R&B, jazz, gospel and contemporary vocalist, is next, on Nov. 19. She is flanked by a piano, bass and drums and will demonstrate “her music flexibility, spicy sense of humor, playful personality and unique touch,” according to promoters.

AudioBody, a two-piece amalgam of music, comedy and technology, opens the 2014 leg on Feb. 20. Brothers Matthew and Jason Tardy use rhythmic beats to complement physical, theatrical comedy. They have performed at The White House and on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

The Diamonds are the penultimate act on March 25, 2014. The peak of their success came in the 1950s, when they made hits out of “Little Darlin’,” “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” and their original song, “The Stroll,” which reached No. 4 on the Billboard chart. The vocalist quartet, inducted into the Doo-Wop Hall of Fame, will be backed in concert by saxophone, trombone, piano and drums.

Tony Award-winning actor Hal Linden, a jazz clarinetist and vocalist backed by a seven-piece band, closes the series April 7, 2014. Best known for his role as the police precinct captain in the television series “Barney Miller,” the 65-year entertainer has performed in more than 20 Broadway and off-Broadway productions. Linden’s musical performance is sold as a mixture of showmanship and charm.

The national organization Live On Stage provides entertainment for the concert series. Video previews of each show are available through the concert association website, www.morgancitycca.com.

Season ticket packages are $45 for adults and $10 for students K-12. The prices are the same for single-show tickets.

The Diamonds, known for the 1950s hit “Little Darlin,” perform in Morgan City March 25, 2014 as the penultimate act of the 2013-14 Morgan City Concert Series. Season and single-show tickets are equally priced at $45.
