Paul Rudnick’s 2006 comedy “Regrets Only” is being staged by Le Petit Theater de Terrebonne (7829 Main St. in downtown Houma) in November with a cast of local stage veterans including Paul Labat, Doug Holloway, Janet Owens, Jillian Vedros-Rowan, Toni Hicks and Edwina Yakupzack.

“Regrets” has lawyer Jack McCullough (Labat) working with the U.S. President on an amendment to ban gay marriage. McCullough is married to the friend (Tibby, played by Owens) of designer Hank Hadley (Holloway), and his work on the amendment causes Hank and Tibby to take a different look at marriage.

“The play asks, ‘What would happen if every gay person went on strike?'” said director Sue Peace. “It asks, ‘Should everyone have the right to marry?'” Peace said the play is aimed at adults. “The material would be over the heads of children,” she said.

“Regrets” is onstage Thursday, Nov. 12, through Sunday, Nov. 22. There is no show on Monday, Nov. 16. Times are all at 7:30 p.m., except for the Sunday shows at 2 p.m. Call the theater at (985) 876-4278 for tickets.
