All aboard Nov. 16, as New Orleans’ own Midnight Streetcar takes music lovers on a nostalgic trip for “Rockin’ Oldies Night.”

Set for 8 p.m. to midnight at Nicholls State University’s Coltillion Ballroom in Thibodaux, the Oldies night will include contests for the best dressed and top dancing couple, door prizes, a vintage car exhibit, a cash bar and plenty of music.

Midnight Streetcar’s – including several Louisiana’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees – has been jamming since the late 1950s. They started in legendary Big Easy bands: The Sparks, The Jokers, The Contours and The Emperors to name a few.

The nine members have shared the stage with the likes of Professor Longhair, Bobby Mitchell, Roland Stone, Clyde McPhatter, Eddie Bo and Dr. John. And guitarist Earl Stanley has made a name for himself as a songwriter, authoring “Pass the Hatchet,” “Gypsy Woman” and “A Million Tears Ago.”

Tickets to “Rockin’ Oldies Night!” are $25 each, and will benefit the Arts Council in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes, as well as the surrounding area. For more information, contact the Houma Regional Arts Council at (985) 873-6367 or e-mail artevents@houmaterrebonne.org.
