The rumors are floating around this month. From a metal show with metal heart to a few spicy details about the upcoming Houmapalooza festival, I have them all.

I took a trip over to the Waterlife Museum, home to the Houma Regional Arts Council, to have a chat with Glenda Toups about Houmapalooza. As we rummaged through some old records being donated, I was informed that this year will introduce a second stage to the festival.

The second stage is going to mainly be geared toward cultural types of music. This year the second stage will feature gospel music groups. The hope is that in future festivals more stages can be added and more of our culture can be showcased. Houmapalooza is scheduled for April 6th and will feature an extraordinary line up of original Louisiana bands. There will be activities for all ages at this great event that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

The Brickhouse will host a rock concert for charity on April 12th. Southern Whiskey Rebellion, Blacken the Sun, 4 Mag Nitrous, Black Water Burial, Cyanide Smile are all scheduled to perform. The doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9. All proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life. Come support a great cause and great local music!
