The Taste of South Louisiana returns to Houma Oct. 14.

Set for 6 to 9 p.m. at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, the 9th annual fundraiser benefits the Haven, a local shelter for battered and abused women.

For $20, the public can have their pick of Cajun, French, Italian and Spanish dishes prepared by 36 vendors, according to Sunburst Media general sales manager Shilo Stevens. The radio company sponsors the event. Stevens predicts this year’s Taste of South Louisiana will prove to be the best one yet.

“We have a lot of new vendors this year,” he said. “They will be displaying foods and drinks that this area is not accustomed to, so it will be really interesting to see the public’s response.
