Teche Shadows turns 50

Hard to believe Shadows-on-the-Teche has been sharing details about its past for 50 years.

Poignant letters, a child’s tiny dress and a scarred kitchen table. They’re familiar museum lore gleaned from the 180-year-old plantation.

Oct. 27-31, Shadows is hosting a celebration of the ages, including dinner, dancing under the historic live oaks, tours, dramatic and musical performances along Main Street balconies, a second-line parade, art walk, jazz brunch and, finally, a birthday bash at Weeks Hall.
