July Activities

The Terrebonne Parish Library System annual summer reading program continues through July 25. There is still time for all members of the family to participate in fun activities and get prizes for recreational reading during summer vacation. Children through the sixth grade can sign up for the reading program entitled “Once Upon a Time” where they can read books to win prizes, participate in exciting arts-and-craft workshops and see live professional performances. Certificates and coupons from local businesses for free stuff are awarded to children who complete the Summer Reading Club by reading ten books. Also, children in kindergarten through the sixth grade will be eligible to enter the drawing for one of seven bikes being given away at each branch when they receive their completion certificate. The Kiwanis Club of Houma and Friends of the Terrebonne Public Library are sponsoring this give- away. All branches of the Terrebonne Parish Library System encourage children to spend time reading for fun during summer vacation, which keeps up their reading skills that were learned during the school year. Summer Reading Club T-shirts and book bags are available for purchase at all branch libraries.
