Mondays, 2 p.m. – Wii Can Do It Group will participate in low-impact exercise using the Nintendo Wii gaming system. Bowling and golf are available. These games are easy to learn and a great way to get in exercise. Water is provided.

Saturday, April 4 – 2009 Jambalaya Writers’ Conference & Book Fair with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. for registration. It will feature discussion sessions on writing and publishing poetry and prose by professional authors, agents and publishing company representatives. The keynote speaker is photographer and author C.C. Lockwood who is best known for his photographs of Louisiana scenes. His books are some of the most beautiful produced in this country. His latest book is entitled C.C Lockwood’s Atchafalaya. The conference is free and open to the public, but lunch and admission to hear Mr. Lockwood is $25 before March 20.

Tuesday, April 7, 6:30 p.m. – Thinking Out Loud Book Discussion led by Jackie Jackson, NSU English instructor, will discuss We Disappear by Scott Heim, in the 2nd floor Charles Davidson Board Room.

Wednesday, April 25 – Annual Spelling Bee – 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, and 5th & 6th grader levels with final round an open competition. A gift certificate will be awarded to first place winners and medallions will be awarded to all first, second and third place winners.

Exhibits at Main Library

Ben Franklin: In Search of a Better World exhibit will be on display until April 24 near the front desk. This exhibit is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.
