Love art of all types? The Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild celebrates local artists Sept. 10 at Art After Dark.

Downtown Houma is transformed into art central from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Local businesses open their doors, welcoming visitors and showcasing artists’ work. “It’s a great way to see the new businesses, visit with the artists and enjoy the evening in the downtown area,” said TFAG’s Karen Kelly.

This is Art After Dark’s 11th year. “It just keeps growing and growing,” Kelly said. “People, artists and the community, have really responded to this each year.”

More than 50 artists and several musicians, including the Houma-Terrebonne Community Band, are participating. “We’re setting up tents in various locations for the bands, and a couple of the bars in the area are bringing in performers,” Kelly said.

The art, paintings in all media, photography, pottery, sculptures, woodcarvings, jewelry and more, are on display at businesses on Main, Belanger, Barrow and Goode streets.

“It promises to be a good time for everyone,” Kelly said. “We look forward to seeing people out there.”
