When the Jerusalem Shrine Circus began over 60 years ago it provided a lifetime of memories.

Children and adults alike were amazed by the animals, mesmerizing stunts and colorful costumes.

The circus returns to the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner Nov. 26 to Nov. 28 featuring the latest production of the Royal Hanneford Circus.

The Royal Hanneford is an American-based family circus with roots dating back to 1690.

Among the popular performers are “The flying trapeze, human cannonball, high wire act, tigers, acrobats, jugglers and clowns,” spokesman P.E. Gilligan said.

Stage lighting, state of the art sound, theatrical backdrops, interior decorations and intimate seating make seeing the circus a unique experience.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $9 for children ages 3 to 12, and children under 3 are admitted free.

Proceeds from the circus will benefit the local Shrine in Destrehan and various community activities.
