The need – for speed

The Union Internationale Motonautique 2009 Atchafalaya World Championship Powerboat Races return to Morgan City on Oct. 17 and 18.

Morgan City Power Boat Association director Oren Dupre expects more than 100 entries, including racers from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets are $10 on race day; children age 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Non-profit organizations are selling food and drinks on both race days. (Outside food or ice chests are prohibited.)
