October is breast cancer awareness month and the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at Terrebonne General Medical Center is ready to Geaux Pink.

Geaux Pink is a signature fundraising program that encourages individuals, businesses, groups, teams, etc., to join in the fight against cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout the month, several community events will be “Geaux Pink” themed and will be held to raise awareness for breast cancer, which is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States.


Geaux Pink Events:

Today: Tina DeSalvo – “Second Chance” book signing at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. All proceeds will be donated to help fight cancer.

Oct. 7: Zumbathon – Bayou Black Gym will be hosting a ‘Zumbathon’ in honor of Katie Savoie.


Oct. 7: Which Craft? – Pinktoberfest will be held with live music, food and drinks.

Oct. 12: Holy Savior Catholic School – Dress up day allowing students to wear pink shirts with a $1 donation.

Oct. 12: Vandebilt Catholic High School – The Terriers will host its ‘Geaux Pink’ volleyball match versus rival E.D. White. 


Oct. 13: St. Bernadette School – Hosting its Geaux Pink Day

Oct. 18 – Terrebonne High School – Lady Tigers volleyball will host its Geaux Pink ‘Believe’ volleyball match versus Ellender.

Oct. 19 – Morris P. Hebert, Inc. – The company will host a burger and sweet sale with proceeds benefiting the cause.


Oct. 30 – St. Matthew’s Episcopal School – Will host its Geaux Pink Day. 

Throughout the month, several businesses will also have specials to honor the cause and raise awareness for Breast Cancer.

Every Friday in October, Haydel’s Drug Store will serve brownies at both store locations with proceeds going to raise money for cancer research. 


Bee Cool Snowballs will have a ‘Geaux Pink Lady’ flavor for October. 

Pelican Posts by Sign Gypsies will also set up a ‘Boo’ surprise in a person’s yard of your choice after dark, which includes a bag of candy at the person’s doorstep and a donation to Geaux Pink.

Ellender Orthodontics will also pitch in and will donate money for every referring dentist that takes a photo in Geaux Pink gear. A $1 donation will also be made for every patient that gets pink elastics on their braces.
