48th Annual Gheens Festival Brings Full Weekend of Fun June 3-5

The 48th Annual Gheens Bon Mange’ Festival will bring a FULL weekend of festivities this weekend, June 3, 4, and 5 at the fairgrounds located at 1783 Highway 654 in Gheens.


Touted as the only air-conditioned festival in the parish, the festival brings great food, music, live auctions, inflatable for the kids, cornhole tournament, craft shows, and more! Friday, June 3, will have Junior Lacross and Sumtin’ Sneaky playing from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. Saturday, June 4, will have Double Play (11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), Tha Aaron Foret Band (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), and Shorts in December (9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.). Sunday, June 5, will have Gary T. (11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and Craig Babin (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) taking the stage.

Food will include seafood gumbo, jambalaya, fried catfish and shrimp po-boys, griad po-boys, white beans, baked chicken and rice dressing (Sunday only), fresh cracklins, and more festival favorites. Beverages include soft drinks, cold beer, and award-winning Rougarou Brew Daquari.

Live auctions will be running in between bands. The cornhole tournament will run on Saturday, registration begins at 11:00 a.m., and bags fly at noon. The craft show will have various vendors offering handmade goods on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Good news parents, the bounce house bracelets will be available! Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., bracelets will be $10. Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., bracelets will be $20. Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., bracelets will be $15. There is also an option for $40 bracelets that includes fun for the whole weekend.


The festival is free to enter and to park. Bands and food are located in the air-conditioned building on the fairgrounds. All proceeds from the event support the maintenance and keep up of the Vacherie Gheens Community Center. Follow them on Facebook for updates.
