Explore Louisiana will showcase the music and culture of our great state during the 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade.

What is the Rose Parade?

It’s no secret that parades are a staple in Louisiana. On January 1, 2024, we are bringing our parading skills to California for the annual Rose Parade, hosted by The Tournament of Roses Foundation. The 2024 theme for the event is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.” The theme is quite fitting, considering Louisiana knows a thing or two about music.

From swamp pop to blues, we are thrilled to highlight the great state of Louisiana during the event. As a bonus, Louisiana will once again stage the mid-parade performance! Performance details will be released soon.

Louisiana’s 2024 Rose Parade float features a larger-than-life Mardi Gras jester, fleur-de-lis, second-line inspired umbrellas and the iconic purple, green and gold touches. Louisiana’s rolling performance will include all the sights and sounds of a Louisiana Mardi Gras. Performing will be Grammy-nominated Zydeco musician Sean Ardoin, Cajun fiddler Amanda Shaw and legendary guitarist James Burton. Get in the spirit with our Rose Parade Spotify playlist here.

The Tournament of Roses features three types of entries: floral-decorated floats, equestrian units and marching bands. Though the floats are professionally designed, they are decorated by volunteers days before the parade. All are invited to join the fun and help! On New Year’s Eve, the floats are judged based on design, floral presentation and entertainment value.

On New Year’s Day, the floats travel more than five miles, parading in front of more than 700,000 people. Following the parade is Floatfest, which features all the floats that made appearances on the route. Attendees have the chance to see the complexities of these beautiful floral float designs up close.

Whether joining us from home or from Pasadena, we can’t wait to show you how to #FeedYourSoul in Louisiana.
