“Chocolate-Covered Strawberry” Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites

With the start of a new year, we often look for new, healthy snack options to add into our daily routine! Yogurt is a great snack option, and it is a great source of protein and calcium; it also contains potassium. Greek yogurt contains double the protein of traditional yogurt, and it may be better tolerated by lactose-sensitive individuals since it contains less lactose than traditional yogurt. Add some fun to your yogurt by stirring in fruit or other add-ins, but be careful not to add too many sugar-sweetened ingredients! Yogurt can provide one of your three daily dairy servings as recommended by USDA’s MyPlate.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup nonfat blended strawberry Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons mini chocolate chips

Directions

STEP 1

In a medium bowl, chop chocolate chips and mix with yogurt.

STEP 2

Spoon mixture into molds, or dollop from a spoon onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. If using molds, tap gently on counter so the yogurt levels smoothly.

STEP 3

Add “popsicle sticks” if desired.

STEP 4

Freeze until solid. Unmold or peel from parchment immediately after removing from freezer, while still thoroughly frozen.

STEP 5

Serve immediately or return to freezer tightly wrapped or packaged in airtight containers. •
