100 Years: Celebrating our Past, Creating Futures

MacDonell Children’s Services will be celebrating their 100th year Anniversary at their annual fundraiser. This special night will consist of great foods from local restaurants and individual chefs, drinks, live/silent auction, and big band entertainment. Tickets are $60 and available by calling 985.868.8362.


Hercules Festival on the Bayou and Fishing Rodeo

The Krewe of Hercules presents their 31at annual Festival on the Bayou and fishing rodeo. Entertainment line-up includes The Groove on Friday from 8-midnight, Tet Dur on Saturday from 12-4 p.m. and Ryan Foret and the Foret Tradition from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Saturday also welcomes the Jambalaya Cookoff from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the live auction from 7-9 p.m. Rodeo tickets are $25 and include nightly entertainment and a t-shirt. You will also be entered for a $500 cash door prize. You may also enter with a $10 cover charge each night. No outside food or beverages are allowed under the Pavilion.


The Kingfish

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, 314 St. Mary St., Thibodaux

Thibodaux Playhouse presents the 30-year anniversary of “The Kingfish”. The one-man play, written by Larry L. King and Ben Grant, depicts the life of the 40thgovernor of Louisiana, Huey P. Long. The show will be a homecoming for director Perry Martin and actor John ‘Spud’ McConnell. The Nicholls State University roommates teamed up together – with McConnell playing Long and Martin directing – and presented “The Kingfish’s” world premiere at the Thibodaux Civic Center in the spring of 1988. The duo will be in attendance for an after-play reception after each performance. Tickets for the play are $35 per person and can be reserved by calling the Playhouse at 985-446-1896 or by visiting www.thibodauxplayhouse.com.


3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament

This Saturday, youth ages 9-18 will compete for cash prizes and trophies at the 1st Annual 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament, presented by Alonzo Coleman of Uplift Youth Now. All are welcome to attend the free event and watch local talented young athletes show off their b-ball skills! Free hamburgers and snowballs will be available for all in attendance, while supplies last. DJ Alright will provide musical entertainment throughout the day.


Junior Auxiliary of Houma’s 5th Annual Moonlight Masquerade

Enjoy a night of fun as you help support the community. Houma’s Dancing with the Stars competition takes center stage as Houma celebrities and dance professionals are paired up for this entertaining dance-off event. The event is cocktail attire and will include a silent auction, live entertainment, complimentary beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres. All proceeds benefit JA of Houma, a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of local children’s wellbeing. Tickets are $75 a ticket or $125 for a couple.
