The Lafourche Education Foundation has announced that Milee Sellers, student at Thibodaux High School, has been selected as the winner for their Bayou King Cake Festival Poster Contest!

“In preparation for the King Cake Fest, we held a poster contest at three high schools– Thibodaux, South Lafourche, and Central Lafourche High Schools,” explained Deanna LaFont with the Lafourche Education Foundation. “We were so excited to select Milee’s drawing for our 2024 poster.”

Milee’s winning drawing will be turned into a poster for the 2024 Bayou King Cake Festival, which will run in copies to be posted around the community, and will be presented to her in a commemorative frame. The Thibodaux High student also received a small prize for her accomplishment.

The 2nd Annual Bayou King Cake Festival will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Thibodaux. Come out and taste king cakes, watch the children’s wagon parade, listen to music by Souled Out, and toast the start of Mardi Gras with Thibodaux Mardi Gras Krewe Royalty. The 2024 festival will feature many improvements including a bigger footprint, an improved ticketing and entry system and a children’s activity corner. The Bayou King Cake Festival’s proceeds will support Lafourche Parish Public Schools and Teachers.
