“Where the Crawdads Sing,” a movie that will be filmed in Houma and New Orleans, is accepting submissions for background actors.
The screenplay for “Where the Crawdads Sing”, is based on a New York Times Best Selling novel of the same name.
“Set in the 1950’-60s era, this coming-of-age mystery will keep us wanting more. As we follow Kaya, a lonely marsh girl raised by the native land due to family abandonment, we soon will learn she will become the prime suspect in the murder case of a local man she was once involved with,” reads its synopsis.
It’s produced by Oscar winner and Louisiana native Reese Witherspoon and written by Lucy Alibar, writer for “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” which was filmed in the Montegut area.
The movie is set to begin filming in mid-April and will last until June.
No acting experience is required for those interested in submitting an application for being an extra.
