Kayce’s Holiday Style:
Our decorating style is more traditional. We have two trees, one in our formal living room and one in our family living room. In our formal living room, the tree is formal and matches the décor of that room. The decorations have more golds, creams, and a touch of pink. These colors extend into our foyer and staircase. The tree in our family room is our family tree that we decorate as a family. Our kids really get into it! The colors are traditional Christmas colors: red and green. It has handmade ornaments, family memories, pictures of our kids, etc. We get a new family ornament every year and a new ornament for each of our children so it’s fun to look back at past ornaments, along with the new ornaments and see how we have grown. One of my favorite souvenirs when we travel is an ornament. It makes for great conversation with our kids as we decorate and reminisce over some of our favorite vacations. Lastly, we incorporate ornaments from Mark’s and my childhood, which is fun for our kids to see. This tree is my personal favorite. It tells the story of our lives.
I also love the display of our nativity. It keeps the focus on what Christmas is all about. The kids have their nativity, too, that they like to keep out and play with.
I love how decorating for Christmas brings our family together. It is traditions like these that I hope brings our children home year after year when they are grown and have moved out of our house.
