The Krewe of Hyacinthians in Houma will officially debut their first Officer/Maid Float at their 2024 Mardi Gras Parade this Feburary!

The Krewe of Hyacinthians is Terrebonne Parish’s oldest women’s carnival club, dating back to 1951– and up until now, had the tradition of debuting their Maids in convertible cars instead of floats. The Krewe of Hyacinthian’s new float for their Maids marks a historic investment in the club’s future Mardi Gras celebrations!

Hyacinthian’s newest float was custom built and designed by Houma Float Sales & Rentals and features the purple hyacinth, golden scrollwork similar to the Krewe’s Queen float, hand carved 3D hummingbirds, and more. The float also has six chairs on three tiers so each Maid’s costume is on display, and custom holders on the mantles to properly present each of the Maid’s feathers.

“We have been saving up to build our own Maid’s float, since we have never had one in our 70-year history,” said Jenna Parra, President of the Krewe of Hyacinthians. “We are so excited to add this float to our parade and debut it this February.”

The Krewe of Hyacinthians will ride on February 4, 2024 at 12:30 p.m.
