BESE leadership statement regarding state lawsuit in response to new Title IX rules

"Stretching the interpretation of gender discrimination beyond that which is grounded in clear biological fact undermines the original intent of Title IX, is inconsistent with its historical application, and endangers equal opportunity for females. The leadership of BESE stands with the Governor, Attorney General, and State Superintendent in this action," reads a statement from BESE.

Budget bills pass in the House, which include increase in teacher stipend allocation and prioritize infrastructure

“Today, the House approved $166M to provide bonus pay to teachers. That means an anticipated stipend of approximately $1,700 that will ultimately be calculated by the Department of Education.” said Appropriations Chairman Jack McFarland.  “We now have time to work with the Senate through the budget process to further increase educators’ compensation. With this bill, as adopted, stipends and differentiated compensations could increase teacher pay in FY 25 by as much as $191M.”

TPSO announces new Criminal Patrol Division

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet is pleased to highlight a recently formed division within the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, created to target a more enhanced concentration in our Patrol Division based operations.  The unit, formally known as the Criminal Patrol Division, has seen many changes since its nearly one-year inception, but the new division has come full circle to where it is today.
