A day-long dragnet paid off Saturday evening with the apprehension of the remaining three of four teens who escaped Friday from the parish’s juvenile detention center.

The escape itself, however, drew harsh words from Terrebonne Parish President Gordon Dove.

“We have got to keep a tighter security at the juvenile detention and we will,” Dove said after learning of the apprehensions. “This is unacceptable by my standards, we will be addressing this with Mr Joe Harris, who is the Department head.”

Officials said the youths were spotted by Terrebonne Parish deputies who had been working to locate them. Although details are still being compiled, initial information indicates that the trio was nabbed somewhere near Bayou Gardens Boulevard. Detectives and uniformed officers worked with tips received from the public and other sources.

One of the teens was taken into custody Friday night, leaving the other three at large.

The three taken Saturday were Jovante Miller, 15, of 9158 Main St. Houma, 5’1” tall, 125 lbs. He was being held for theft, simple battery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Benyami Williams Walker, 15,101 Zazoo Ct., Gibson, 5’4” 120 lbs., has a charge of simple burglary. Curtis Michael Hogan, 16, 305 B. Jefferson St. Napoleonville, 5’9” 165 lbs. He has charges of second-degree battery and aggravated battery.

Terrell Akim Williams, a 17-year-old, is the teen who was already taken into custody. He was returned to the center after being treated for cuts and bruises at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center.

The teens were in a recreation yard at the center Friday, authorities said, when one of them grabbed a guard’s radio and threw it, creating a distraction that allowed him and the other three to climb up to an awning, make their way across a roof to another fenced area and leave over a fence, at around 3:15 p.m.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said his deputies were leading the search. The Houma Police Department and Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office also aided the investigation.
