St. Mary Parish authorities arrested a 26-year-old Amelia man Monday night on drug charges.

Jovian J. Clark, of 168 Friendship Alley, was charged with possession of marijuana after narcotics task force agents found the drug, said St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Sonnier. The discovery was made during a traffic stop on Lake Palourde Road, he said.


A passenger in the car, Clark had the marijuana in his right pants pocket, Sonnier said.


The St. Mary Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force consists of the sheriff’s office and the Morgan City Police, Patterson Police, Franklin Police, Baldwin Police, Berwick Police and Chitimacha Police departments.

Other St. Mary Sheriff’s Office arrests:

• Tina M. Young, 42, of 771 Deforest Brown, Apt # 22, Centerville, was arrested Monday at 2:41 p.m. on warrants for theft and issuing worthless checks. Deputies arrested Young at her residence. She was released after posting a $2,000 bond.

• Charles M. Green, 47, of 1160 Louisiana Highway 318, Jeanerette, was arrested on Monday at 6:20 p.m. on a warrant from Texas Department of Corrections for Parole Violations. He was arrested at the Four Corners area. Green is being held without bond.

• Danny M. Faulks Jr., 22, of 774 Verdunville Road, Franklin, was arrested Tuesday at 1:11 a.m. for criminal damage to property, simple battery, two counts of simple assault; warrants for failure to appear for a probation review hearing; and for Morgan City court for failure to appear on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and open alcoholic container. Witnesses told authorities Faulks had damaged a woman’s vehicle, committed a battery and made threats. Faulks was found hiding at the residence. He is being held without bond.
