Houma Police arrested a local man Friday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck area.

Officers charged Bruce L. Parker, 42, of 2627 Madge St., Houma, with attempted second-degree murder.

When police arrived at the Parkers’ home, they found the 37-year-old woman stabbed. Authorities learned that during an argument, Parker stabbed his wife repeatedly with two knives, police said.

In all, the woman received 10 stab wounds to her neck area.

Officers at the scene administered first aid until Acadian Ambulance arrived. The woman was taken to Leonard Chabert Medical Center. Police said she is in stable but guarded condition.

Parker was transported to Terrebonne Parish Jail.

If convicted, Parker faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison.
