A Thibodaux couple is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office this week after allegedly stealing from an elderly relative.

On Nov. 30, an elderly woman called authorities and reported that items were taken from her resident on the 1000 block of La. Highway 1.


Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who indicated that she’d noticed items were going missing over the past several weeks, including valuable jewelry, which was valued as being worth several thousands of dollars.

On separate occasions, the woman said she noticed a side door to her house was left open, but she thought she left it open by mistake.

Upon investigation, authorities identified the victim’s relative, Crystal Fonseca, 35, and her boyfriend, Lance Gros, 32, both of Thibodaux, as suspects.


Authorities contacted the couple and took them in for questioning. LPSO said they both admitted to their role in the crimes.

Detectives learned the two burglarized the home on two occasions, which Gros serving as the lookout, while Fonseca took the items. On a third occasion, Fonseca allegedly stole while visiting.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.


Fonseca is charged with two counts of simple burglary and thefts of assets of an elderly person.

Her bond is set at $15,000.

Gros was booked with two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and he was also found to have an active warrant for contempt of court for Thibodaux City Court.


His bond was set at $16,000.
