A Houma man died after he was struck last Wednesday night by a car as he walked along West Park Avenue, according to state police.

Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt reported around 11 p.m. Timothy Conn, 50, was walking near the white dashed centerline n almost in the middle of the road n as he walked north along La. 24, just south of Coteau Road, when a 1995 Mazda 626 hit him. Mary Matherne, 60, of Raceland, was driving the car.

Acadian Ambulance rushed Conn to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment, Hyatt said. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, he noted.

Matherne, who was the only occupant in the Mazda, was not hurt in the crash, Hyatt said. She submitted to a voluntary breath test; the results were .044g percent, which is below the legal limit, he said.

State police believe Conn may have been under the influence of alcohol, and the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office has sent blood sample to a lab for analysis, Hyatt said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, however, no charges are pending, he said.
