CASA of Terrebonne kicked of their 2023 holiday season by welcoming four new advocate volunteers to their community!

Carolyn McNabb, Shea Bourgeois, Shannon Rhodes, and Kelsey Falgout, members of CASA Class #68, were sworn in on Monday, November 27, 2023 by the Honorable Judge Timothy Ellender, Jr. Each new member has successfully completed 30 hours of pre-service training, and have all chosen cases and are ready to advocate for a child in foster care.

“New volunteers, particularly during the holiday season, are extremely important,” said Sulma Reyes, Advocate Supervisor for CASA of Terrebonne since 2011. “We have over 200 children on the waiting list, and so having new volunteers means that we know these children will be advocated for during the month of December. The volunteers will get to meet them, interact with them, fulfill their Christmas wishlist and bring them presents, and more, to make the end of their year extra special.”

The next CASA training for future volunteer advocates will begin January 30 of 2024. For more information, or to sign up for this upcoming training, please visit their Facebook or website.

Congratulations to McNabb, Bourgeois, Rhodes, and Falgout for beginning their journey as a local foster child’s advocate!
