The Children’s Coalition for the Bayou Region will hold its January meeting Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Woodmen of the World Hall on 309 South Hollywood Rd. in Houma.

The topic of the meeting is Partners in Education. The guest speakers will be Suzanne Carlos, a Terrebonne Parish School Board representative and a member of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, and George Ribble, the director of Cementing Manufacturing for Weatherford GEMACO in Houma.

Both, Carlos and Ribble are members of Partners of Education where businesses team up with the school system to give financial support for a particular year by providing books and school supplies, said Coalition Executive Director Leilani Brunet.

Brunet said the two guest speakers have come together to discuss the business community’s efforts to become a part of the Bayou Region school systems, which include Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
