Lafourche, Terrebonne Parish Schools and all schools in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux will be canceled tomorrow, Jan. 17, 2018, because of inclement weather in the area.
Also closing are St. Matthew’s and Houma Christian School, as well.
All athletic events in both parishes for tonight have been postponed and all after-school activities, as well.
Fletcher Technical Community College announced they will be closed, as well. Nicholls State University closed at 3 p.m. and will be closed tomorrow.
Temperatures are supposed to drop into the low 20s as an Arctic front approaches the area.
Wind chills are expected to drop into the low teens as the front pushes stiff north winds into the area.
There remains a low chance of snow/wintry mix with the front, which could ice roads, leading to the closure.
