Several local organizations have pulled together to ensure that the public makes a more informed decision come Election Day.

On Nov. 2, Nicholls State University will host a forum for the candidates hoping to fill the Third Congressional District Seat.

Each candidate will answer prepared questions dealing with state and local issues. Toward the end of the evening, each candidate will also be given the opportunity to make a closing remark.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Peltier Auditorium, across from the cafeteria. Kathy Benoit with the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce, one of the groups sponsoring the event, said that the auditorium holds around a 1,000 guests and on-campus parking should not be a problem.

Eric Paulsen, a news anchor for WWL-TV Channel 4, will moderate the event.

Candidates for Louisiana’s Third District House Seat are incumbent Charlie Melancon D-Napoleonville, Craig Romero R-New Iberia, Orlangee Breech, a Laplace Democrat and James Lee Blake, a Franklin Libertarian.

Other groups sponsoring the event are Nicholls State University Student Government Association, the Lafourche Unit, Louisiana League of Women Voters, and the Chamber of Lafourche and Bayou Region.
