Authorities seeking information on apparent homicide

A 21-year-old Thibodaux man was found dead alongside Ridgefield Road Sunday morning, an apparent homicide victim who was shot multiple times in the head, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brennan Matherne said.

Carnell McIntyre, of 1292 St. Charles St., was found just after 8:30 a.m. alongside Ridgefield Road near the Marydale Community. LPSO has not yet made public possible a motive or designated a suspect.

“We have reason to believe that McIntyre’s body was dropped at that location and that the incident did not occur where the body was found,” Matherne said. “Evidence points to the gun shots being at point blank range.”

In 2012, Thibodaux Police suspected McIntyre was responsible for a shooting at Rak-N-Dak last October. McIntyre was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder for his suspected role in the shooting, in which two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information regarding McIntyre’s death contact the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division at (985) 532-4320.

Information can also be submitted anonymously through Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted over the phone at (800) 743-7433 or via text to the number 274637. Tipsters who provide information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 in cash.

Cenac gets a fine and probation

Houma tugboat tycoon Arlen “Benny” Cenac Jr. must pay a fine and submit to a year of probation in connection with his plea of guilty to charges that he made false statements to the Federal Elections Commission.

Cenac, 57, was sentenced last week at federal court in New Orleans by U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Barbier. In addition to a $5,000 fine, Cenac must also pay a $100 assessment.

A 1-count bill of information alleged that between Feb, 16 and May 24 2008 Cenac, president and owner of Cenac Towing, submitted cashier’s checks that he purchased in the names of individuals other than himself to the campaigns of two United States Senate candidates, Mary Landrieu and David Vitter.

The money Cenac used to purchase these cashier’s checks, court papers said, came from personal and corporate accounts.

“In submitting these contributions to the campaigns Cenac neither obtained nor sought the knowledge, permission or authority of the individuals he listed as remitters on the cashier’s checks,” a statement from US Attorney Dana Boente says. “Cenac’s provision of the cashier’s checks caused a knowing and willful submission of a materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statement and representation.”

Cenac’s report concerning the contribution’s to Boente’s statement reads, “was materially false in reporting the source and amount of contributions to the campaigns.”

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Public Integrity Section, and the United States Attorney’s Office. Department of Justice Trial Attorney Tracee Plowell and Assistant U. S. Attorney Dan Friel prosecuted the case.

3 arrested with counterfeit $20

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Houma convenience store last Wednesday after a purchase was reported suspicious.

Store employees told deputies that a man was attempting to make a purchase with a counterfeit $20 bill.

Authorities responded to the store and identified the suspect and two acquaintances.

All three subjects were interviewed, and it was learned that the trio allegedly obtained the bills last week and had been spending the money at several locations throughout Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.

Damian LeBoeuf, 19, of 150 Shady Arbors Circle, Apt. 25, of Houma, Stacy Dupre Jr., 22, of 1324 Marie Drive, of Houma and Lily Cortez, 20, of 141 Kate St., Raceland, were all booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail on one count of monetary instrument abuse.

The investigation is ongoing and this is a joint effort between TPSO and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Murder suspect turns himself in

A Houma man turned himself into authorities late last week after a warrant was filed for his arrest in a Feb. 2010 murder.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said that Corey Claudell Galmore turned himself into police at 9:15 a.m., on charges of second degree murder.

He was taken into custody in the Terrebonne Parish Jail and booked on a $400,000 bond.

Authorities claim that Galmore is responsible for the 2010 murder of his girlfriend Merell Stewart.

Stewart’s body was found in St. Mary Parish days after she had been reported missing.

Galmore was initially taken into custody in the incident, but charges were never filed.

Police seek help in identifying hit-and-run driver

The Thibodaux Police needs public help to identify a suspected hit and run driver.

Police Chief Scott Silverii said his office is looking for an unidentified white male that is wanted for questioning in reference to a hit and run that took place on Aug. 31 within the city.

Silverii said the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt, khaki shorts and is apparently bald with a goatee.

Authorities said the man was driving a darker colored four-door Chevy truck.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call David Melancon at (985) 446-5021.

Suspect arrested after allegedly altering price labels

Thibodaux man Clint Ambrose, 39, of 919 Serinity Drive, is in trouble with authorities this week after Thibodaux Police said he changed UPC labels at a store.

Police Chief Scott Silverii said Ambrose is charged with receipts and universal product code labels and unlawful acts after authorities said he took a more expensive UPC label off two rods and reels and replaced them with cheaper price stickers.

At around 3 p.m. on Sept. 7, it was reported that Ambrose purchased the two rods for about $56 under the actual sticker price.

He was arrested and taken into custody.

Suspect nabbed in robbery

A 27-year-old Houma man is in custody after authorities claim he robbed a 25-year-old female at gunpoint.

Houma Police authorities responded to the 700 block of Grand Caillou Road on Sept. 9 in reference to a robbery.

Once on the scene, they located the victim who said that she was robbed, battered and her phone and cash were stolen.

The victim told authorities that the man ran away toward Hellier Street.

As the investigation continued, HPD patrolled and located the suspect, Joshua Celestine, 27, of 208 Peters St.

While apprehending Celestine, authorities located a .22 caliber Beretta used in the incident and also the victim’s cell phone and cash.

Authorities learned in the investigation that Celestine and the victim were in a relationship when a domestic abuse incident occurred earlier in the day on Peters Street, which led to the woman leaving.

Celestine was arrested for armed robbery, domestic abuse battery and obstruction of justice.

Man allegedly disconnects camera, charged with theft

Authorities are soliciting the public for information on the theft of 34 items from Walmart, already having announced the arrest of the alleged accomplice, who used his access to shut down surveillance cameras a day before the theft, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Anthony Hardnett, 27, of 3672 Sycamore St., Baton Rouge, disconnected a security camera without operation while working at Walmart in Raceland for a private security service contractor, LPSO Deputy Brennan Matherne said. The camera was disconnected in the early hours of Aug. 7, the spokesman added.

Roughly 24 hours later, other cameras captured a yet-to-be-found subject walk into a bathroom with empty duffel bags and walk out with full bags, Matherne said. In total, 23 Apple iPads, nine other tablet computers, a laptop computer and a desktop computer – worth a combined $12,000 – were taken from the warehouse area, Matherne said.

“Hardnett appeared to be acting as a ‘lookout’ during the theft,” Matherne said. He had no work-related order or reason to disconnect the camera, Matherne added.

Hardnett was charged with felony theft on Aug. 27 and released after posting $10,000 bond. He refused to cooperate with investigators, the sheriff’s office spokesman said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bayou Regions Crime Stoppers at (800) 743-7433 or by texting “GIVEATIP” plus the message to 274637.

Tipsters who provide information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for up to $1,000 in a cash reward.
