Thibodaux man wanted on seven active warrants:

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced this week that his office is searching for a Thibodaux man with seven active warrants for his arrest.

LPSO spokesman Brennan Matherne said authorities are currently on the lookout for Lynes Anthony Ward, 26, of 200 Plymouth St., Thibodaux, for charges of aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse with child endangerment, false imprisonment, resisting an officer, violation of a protective order and simple criminal damage to property – charges that all stem from an incident which occurred on March 30.

Matherne said the incident started when a Thibodaux woman was attempting to leave her residence.

During that time, the spokesman said Ward emerged from under the woman’s home, pushed her back inside and wouldn’t let her leave.

Once back in the residence, authorities say Ward grabbed the woman by the neck and began to strangle her before releasing his grip and grabbing a kitchen knife in an attempt to stab the victim.

Matherne said the woman was holding one of her children during the struggle.

Authorities say the woman fled to her bathroom with her children and locked the door, during which Ward allegedly kicked the door down, grabbed the victim by the hair and struck her in the face, causing her to bleed from the lip.

Matherne said the woman was able to calm Ward down, eventually leaving the scene with him to go to the Colonels Truck Plaza. Authorities say Ward allowed the woman to enter the store and while inside, she pleaded with the store clerk to call 911.

After returning to the car, authorities say the two drove off, but returned to the store just minutes later.

When Ward noticed a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was on the scene, he fled on foot.

Ward’s criminal history includes five prison stays and 12 arrests for various crimes, including multiple battery charges, armed robbery, aggravated assault, illegal use of weapons, stalking, simple criminal damage to property and home invasion.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433.

2×4 fight lands one in jail:

A Raceland man was recklessly swinging lumber this week.

For his efforts, he’s in the Lafourche Parish detention center for aggravated second degree battery.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Matherne said authorities responded to a fight in progress between two men last Wednesday.

Once on the scene, deputies made contact with one of the men who had been fighting – a man who was severely bleeding and had a laceration on the left side of his face with swelling surrounding it. He was also swollen on his left forearm and chest.

Matherne said the man advised deputies that he was arguing with Alberto Garcia, 35, of 48 Shadey Trailer Park, Raceland, when Garcia grabbed a 30-inch 2×4 and struck him with it several times.

While waiting for an ambulance for the victim, a deputy on the scene made contact with Garcia and also located the board allegedly used in the melee.

Matherne said traces of blood were found on the lumber.

Garcia is charged with aggravated second degree battery and was booked in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Traffic stop nets drug arrest:

A traffic stop turned into much more last Wednesday in south Lafourche.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Matherne said at approximately 4:15 p.m., LPSO narcotics agents were traveling northbound on La. Highway 3235 in Galliano following a white sport-utility vehicle.

Matherne said agents observed the vehicle cross the white fog line twice, initiating a traffic stop.

After making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, Matherne said Mika Duhon, 23, of 306 East 58th St., Cut Off, was identified as the driver and Keane Prince, 20, of 20636 La. Highway 1, Golden Meadow, was the passenger.

Aware that Prince had an active warrant from an Oct. 26, 2011 incident, authorities placed him under arrest.

When questioned about the vehicle’s contents, Duhon admitted to having Klonopin and Valium inside her purse, turning over permission to the agents to remove the narcotics.

Matherne said authorities located two pills of suspected Clonazepam and one pill of Diazepam also on the location, placing Duhon under arrest.

Agents then proceeded to Prince’s residence and located several smoking pipes suspected to have been used with marijuana, as well as a grinder and other assorted drug paraphernalia.

The search came after Prince gave consent to authorities to search the home.

Prince is charged with an outstanding warrant for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and a new warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. Duhon is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance and driving on the wrong side of the road.
