Houma man arrested for molestation of a juvenile


A Houma man was arrested last week after he allegedly admitted to molesting a juvenile one year ago.

Martin Bourg, 50, of 166 Brien St., was released after posting $25,000 in bond.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives launched its investigation of the matter on Aug. 19. They questioned Bourg two days later, when he “admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor,” sheriff’s office spokesman Brennan Matherne said.


The sheriff’s office is withholding the victim’s age and gender in order to protect his or her identity.

Investigation into Morgan City gunfight continues after one arrest

Two people were shot and one was arrested after an apparent gunfight Aug. 19 in Morgan City.


Ray Clifton Ingram III, one of the victims, told investigators he used his fired his handgun after other suspects began shooting toward his vehicle with a rifle, according to Morgan City Police Department Lt. James F. Blair. Ingram also allegedly admitted to having a bystander throw his gun in the river in attempt to hide it from police. Officers later recovered a weapon Ingram said was his and found “a small amount of suspected marijuana” inside his vehicle, which was riddled with bullet holes.

Ingram was treated at Teche Regional and arrested. He was charged with illegal use of a dangerous instrument, obstruction of justice, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

The other victim, who was not arrested, was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Teche Regional.


The investigation is ongoing. Police found more than 20 shell casings scatter throughout the Orange Street area near Ingram’s vehicle. Ingram told detectives his assailants drove a dark-colored, older-model sedan, possibly a Lincoln Town Car.

Chauvin man admits to stealing from gravesites


A Chauvin man was arrested after he admitted stealing brass-ring flower holders from up to 47 gravesites at St. Joseph Cemetery, Terrebonne Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said.

Chad Trahan, 40, of 5786 La. Highway 56, was arrested last week, charged with theft of copper from a religious site and desecration of graves, and booked in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

Trahan allegedly sold the brass rings to a local scrap yard. Damage to the graves at the cemetery exceeded $16,000, Larpenter said.


Detectives launched their investigation after receiving numerous reports of grave damage. They discovered the rings at the scrap yard and were then able to track down Trahan, who was found walking in east Houma.

The sheriff’s office has since returned the rings to the cemetery.

Public’s help sought in ID’ing suspects in separate Walmart thefts, vehicle burglaries


The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward for anyone with knowledge about a series of thefts at two Walmart stores in the parish.

Deputies believe a middle-aged man who drives a white pickup truck is responsible for two separate thefts at the Galliano Walmart on to occasions July 19 and July 22. Six computer tablets and six laptop computers were alleged stolen. The sheriff’s office described the suspect’s appearance after reviewing surveillance footage.

Then, on Aug. 13, employees at the Raceland Walmart discovered multiple empty packages that were supposed to contain electronic merchandise. Surveillance footage has given the sheriff’s office a suspect, though they are to this point unable to identify the alleged culprit.

The sheriff’s office is offering a similar reward to information that leads to an arrest stemming from a rash of vehicle burglaries last week.

At least five vehicles in the Raceland Prairie area were allegedly burglarized, and LPSO is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects.


Deputies responded to the scene early on Aug. 20 to find that vehicles along Magnolia and Azalea streets and Crest Road were burglarized, according to the owners. Deputies have obtained surveillance photos of a suspect. The neighborhood is off La. Highway 653.

Residents in this area are urged to check their vehicles and property for sings of burglary or attempted burglary.

Thibodaux man charged with 3rd DWI

A Thibodaux man who failed to stop at a red light was caught driving under the influence for the third time, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announced.

Michael Premeaux Jr., 28, of 115 Hickory Lane, was pulled over after he ran a red light, accelerating quickly enough to spin his tires at about 1 a.m., Thursday morning, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.


Premeaux performed poorly on a sobriety test and was then administered a breathalyzer test, which indicated Premeaux had a blood alcohol content of 0.093g. He was then arrested.

Upon arrival to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, Premeaux pushed a sheriff’s deputy against the wall in attempt to “pull away from deputies,” sheriff’s office spokesman Brennan Matherne said.

Premeaux was subsequently charged with DWI – 3rd offense, resisting an officer with force or violence, careless operation and running a red light. He was released Thursday night after posting a $12,000 bond.


Morgan City man accused of choking a female, threatening her with a gun

Lionel L. Granger III was arrested Aug. 19 and charged with domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault stemming from an incident three months ago, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies found Granger, 48, of 1008 Grace St., Morgan City, while responding to a report of a trespasser at a Grace Street residence. After making contact with Granger, deputies learned of the active domestic violence warrant for his arrest.


In that incident, Granger alleged “choked a female victim and threatened her with a gun.”

Granger was booked at the parish jail.
