Lafourche Sheriff seeks help in beating of Lockport man

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said he is asking the public’s help in locating a suspect(s) who allegedly beat a Lockport man last month.

LPSO spokesman Brennan Matherne said the incident occurred at or near James Lounge in Raceland.

Matherne said the situation came to light shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2012 when patrolling deputies on La. Highway 308 in the Mathews area observed a male subject standing partially in the roadway next to a pickup truck.

The spokesman said the man appeared to have been severely beaten.

Authorities sought medical help and Acadian Ambulance arrived to assist, transporting the man to a local hospital for treatment.

Matherne said he was then transferred to a New Orleans hospital for further treatment, where it was learned that the victim suffered several facial injuries, as well as teeth having been knocked out of his mouth.

Through investigation of the incident, Matherne said detectives learned the victim was at James Lounge and had gotten into a fight either inside or near the establishment before driving away.

Matherne said detectives have not been able to determine whether one person or several people were involved in the fight.

Detectives are now seeking help from the public in an attempt to identify those involved.
