Terrebonne searches for alleged murderer

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois said deputies are searching for the suspect responsible for a weekend shooting that killed a 49-year-old man.

TPSO spokesman Maj. Malcolm Wolfe said deputies were dispatched to 9576 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, in reference to a shooting.

When on the scene, deputies learned that a verbal altercation had taken place between an unknown suspect and the victim, Vo Hung, of Houma.

Following the argument, authorities say the suspect fled the scene and returned shortly with a loaded shotgun.

Wolfe said the suspect shot and killed Hung while he was standing on a shrimp boat docked near Jensen Seafood in Dulac.

Two arrested in robbery at Raceland casino

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced Monday that a Raceland man and woman are in custody for allegedly robbing a man at a local casino.

According to LPSO spokesman Deputy Brennan Matherne, deputies responded to a disturbance at a casino on South Service Road in Raceland shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night.

While there, deputies learned that a woman had stolen money out of the hand of a man playing video poker at the casino.

Deputies learned a man and woman approached several people inside of the casino.

The woman allegedly approached the male victim and took three, $10 bills from his hand, ripping the bills in half as she did so.

The woman then allegedly ran out of the casino with a man. Matherne said they drove away in a black convertible.

After obtaining a description of the suspects and the vehicle, authorities started to search the area.

Matherne said a deputy made contact with the vehicle and was able to identify the driver as Sidney Roger, 31, and the passenger as Rochell Hodges, 30, both of 444 Church St.

The duo were charged with simple robbery.

Local coach/teacher arrested for sex with student

A South Terrebonne High School teacher and assistant baseball coach is in trouble this week after detectives say he had a sexual relationship with a student.

Matthew Dardar, 27, of 129 Reggie Lane, Montegut, was arrested last Thursday and charged with one count of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student after authorities learned he had a relationship with a 17-year-old student.

TPSO spokesman Maj. Malcolm Wolfe said the investigation was started last weekend after receiving a tip regarding the alleged relationship.

The student was a senior at the school when the relationship began, according to authorities. Wolfe said the relationship reportedly recently came to an end.

Detectives questioned Dardar last Thursday about the alleged relationship. Wolfe said the teacher admitted his involvement with the student.

Further investigation revealed all sexual encounters occurred off school grounds.

Dardar was arrested and placed in the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

Bike Night rolls without a hitch

The Houma Police Department hosted its second Bike Night last Thursday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

A total of 15 officers from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, HPD and Thibodaux Police participated in the event, which was originally the idea of TPD Chief Scott Silverii.

Bike Night will be a monthly event that will rotate to different jurisdictions.

The first event took place in Thibodaux on June 1, where 20 officers took part in the event designed to get officers closer to people in neighborhoods.

In the most recent operation, officers patrolling Morgan Street smelled marijuana emitting from a passing vehicle. Bike officers stopped the car and arrested Kendall M.
