Cut Off fugitive arrested after apparent suicide attempt

A Lafourche Parish fugitive with 16 active arrest warrants was captured Sunday evening after he made an apparent attempt to take his life, according to the sheriff’s office.

Nicholas John Dalby, 33, of 15775 E. Main St., Cut Off, is being held in lieu of $1.2 million bond at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. All of his warrants were issued for contempt of court. The charges he refused to face included arson, domestic abuse, drug charges and traffic violations.

Deputies received information as to Dalby’s whereabouts Sunday evening, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Matherne.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Dalby exited the rear door of a residence on West 132nd Street in Galliano. After being informed of his arrest, the suspect re-entered the residence, deputies said.

Deputies followed and found Dalby lying face-down in the attic with lacerations to his wrist, Matherne said. A handgun and knife were lying nearby, Matherne said.

Two arrested for role in producing methamphetamine

A 34-year-old Lockport male is being held in lieu of $120,000 bond after allegedly admitting to investigators that he produced methamphetamine over the course of one year, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jason Danos, of 807 Elizabeth St., Apartment 4, Lockport, was arrested Friday. Danos was charged with creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS.

Sheena Allemand, 24, also of 807 Elizabeth St., Apt. 4, was also arrested after she allegedly admitted to buying Psuedoephedrine and knowing it was being used to produce meth. She was charged with creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of a CDS, and is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond.

Their arrests came as part of a 10-month investigation.

Agents also found 25 firearms, 3 grams of meth, a jug containing unfinished product and several items “commonly used in the production of methamphetamine,” Matherne said.

The Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force, the Lafourche Parish Combined Methamphetamine Response Team and the Lockport Police Department processed the meth lab found at the residence, LPSO spokesman Brennan Matherne said.

Through investigation, task force agents learned Danos was possibly manufacturing meth at the residence, Matherne said. Agents witnessed Danos exit the residence and begin dumping a large bottle containing a white substance, which agents said they believed was a hazardous bi-product. Agents made contact with Danos and arrested him.

Shortly thereafter, Allemand arrived at the residence and was also detained.

Danos was sent through a decontamination process, and he and Allemand were questioned at the Criminal Operations center in Lockport, Matherne said.

Both also admitted to being active meth users.
